Kunming Yuanmou Man Relics

The Yuanmou Man Relics is located in Yuanmou County of Yunnan Province. It was the place where human fossil of the early paleolithic period was discovered. The Yuanmou Man is approximately 1.7 million years from now. In 1965, Yuanmou Man Relics was discovered at the foot of a mountain 500 meters north of Danawu Village, Yuanmou County. Now there is a museum exhibiting the Yuanmou Man’s fossil and is one of the earliest human fossils discovered in China. Among the relics are also many animal fossils such as Yunnan Horse, Sword Teeth Tiger, Sword Teeth Elephant, Mammoth, stone implement, etc. The discovery of the Yuanmou Man Relics is an attestation that Yunnan Plateau is one of the most important areas of early human activity.
