Yangshuo is a famous place to relax and unwind in a relatively hassle free, peaceful and beautiful environment. The village itself has nothing much to be raved about. It is very small and you can walk to anywhere in just ten minute’s time. Two of the roads are almost nothing but guesthouses, souvenir shops and western style restaurants. There is no shortage of western food, English menus, English speaking staff, western music and western movies in Yangshuo.
Most of the businesses are geared towards budget travelers but there is at least one up-market resort. With all this western nonsense you might be asking ’what’s the big deal?’ Just ride five minutes out of town on a bicycle and verdant rice paddies, limestone pinnacles, and tiny rural hamlets await and all of the western oriented businesses are quickly forgotten.
Yangshuo is famous for a profusion of scenic hills and rivers. The Lijiang and Tianjia Rivers, which run through the town, are the two largest of the 12 rivers in the county. Peaks are so peculiar, so beautiful and so many that they are seen one after another to an incalculable extent.
Famous scenic spots in Yangshuo include Jianshan Mountain, Bilian Peak, Shutong Hill, Yangshuo Park and Chuanyan Cave, etc. A commercial street in the town is also tourist’s favorite. Native products are abundant thanks to the fertile mountains and rivers. Fruits most famous here both at home and abroad include orange, tangerine, pomelo, chestnut and kumquat, etc.
