Chongqing Qutang Gorge,Qutang Xia

Qutang Gorge starts from DaXi of Wushan County to Baidicheng City of Fengjie County, Chongqing. The total length is 8 kilometers. The scenery is the most grand and precipitous in Changjiang River Three Gorges. The roaring Yangtze River enters the gorge to meet with the grand Kui Gorge. The peaks on both sides of the bank of Kui Gorge fluctuates up and down, rises straight from the ground, twisting and turning like a dragon in the gorge. The river width here is only about 100 to 200 meters and the narrowest part is only several meters. The main peaks on both sides of the bank could reach the height of 1,000 to 1,500 meters.
The deep water here flows rapidly and together with the continuous mountain range constituted a grand picture scroll. Just as Guo Moruo "Pass though Qutangxia" poem says: "If word has different scenery, Qutang Gorge is the best in Three Gorges". Qutang Gorge’s scenic spots are many and concentrated, making touring easier for tourists. There are Fengjie old city, Eight-Diagram tactics and Yu Fu tower on the upstream. The north shore summit has Baidicheng city with many cultural relics collection, the thrilling ancient road and the mystery bellows Gorge. Both banks has engraved whitewashed wall with fable Meng Liang Ladder, the hangs Buddhist Priest, the helmet and armor cave, the phoenix spring and so on. Not far from the downriver of the south shore is a strange shape peak, Mystery Bellows Gorge, emerging suddenly by the bank and is called “the rhinoceros watching the full moon”, remarkably like real. Daxi cultural remains site is the most attractive place for archaeologies. Du Fu Thatched House Ruins is several kilometers from Baidicheng and is a place where poets wouldn’t forget.
