Mawei Harbor is a small town located approximately 20 kilometers southeast of Fuzhou in Fujian province. It is situated on the north bank of Min River. It was said that there was rock in the shape of a horse where the horse tail faces the town.

Thus, the town was called Horsetail. The harbor is the cradle of China’s modern industry and the foundation of the Navy in the past. The Horsetail Shipyard is the biggest shipyard in Fujian. The Luoxing Tower located next to the Min River is the symbol of Min River.

The Jingang Leg Scenic Area is located 10 kilometers southeast of it. There are ancient bomb towers on both sides of the river where you could get a feel on the battlefield between China and France in the past.
