When Germany invaded Qingdao in 1897, the official mansion of Germany governor, Jiaoao was located at the mid mountain of Shitou Mountain known at that time (now known as Xinhao Mountain). In 1957, fence surrounding the guesthouse was constructed, forming a courtyard area of 86,000 square meters. There are many fruit trees and various types of decorative plants in the courtyard.
