The river flows through the foot of the Lao Mountain and the river has nine twists. By walking along the river, you will pass through the nine twists, and thus the name Beijiushui (North Nine Twists) was called. The Beijiushui can be divided into three parts—the Neijiushui (Innner Nine Twists), Waijiushui (Outer Nine Twists) and Nanjiushui (South Nine Twists), among which the Waijiushui (Outer Nine Twists) is the most famous. The Waijiushui (Outer Nine Twists) is also named Beijiushui (North Nine Twists).
The Beijiushui with its length of about 3km long is from Beijiushui Sanatorium to Scale Waterfall (Yulin Pubu). The Scale Waterfall is so named because of the shape of spray which looks much like scales. The sound of the Scale Waterfall sounds like that of flood tide. The waterfall has three twists and pours into two ponds where the upper pond is smaller. The pond is named Blue Vat Bay (Diangang Wan) because of its vat shape and blue water. The lower pond is bigger and is more than 30 meters in perimeter. A pavilion is located at the west side of Scale Waterfall for tourists to enjoy the beauty and grandness of the waterfall. There are many stone gorges below the Blue Vat Bay (Diangang Wan). Two rocks which are more than 30 meters high, stood face to face and the water flows speedily through the gorges. If you stand at the foot of the gorges and look up, you’ll feel if the gorges were leaning and is breathtaking.
