Lady Meng Jiang crying over the Great Wall is a story which has always been on the lips of the Chinese people. She couldn’t find her husband, and kept weeping and wailing. Suddenly she plunged herself into the sea, with the utmost hatred for the ruthless oppression and utter corruption of the feudal rulers. This is why the Great Wall is sometimes called the world’s longest cemetery. The temple is located at the east end of Shanhai Pass, and 6.5 kilometers north of the village at Phoenix Mountain. Also known as Pudicity Lady Ancestral Hall, construction on the temple began in the Song Dynasty, with repairs done during the Ming Dynasty. The entire area is beautifully laid out in a botanical garden style.
