The Guangji gate tower is located on the side of east Hanjiang River. It is one of the most palatial and grand city gates among the original Chaozhou ancient city seven gates. At the same time, it is the symbol of the famous Chaozhou city and is also the most important floodgate pass in north dike city. Guangji building was built at the reign of Hongwu three years in Ming dynasty (1370).
The Guangji gate tower is a palace type three level summit garret building. Late spring in March, you will see the Hanjiang River’s tide rising and the open water surface by ascending the building to look into the far distance. Thus, it has "east building viewing tide" reputation in the Chaozhou eight sceneries.
