The Guangji Bridge is situated on the east of Chaozhou city. Guangji Bridge was one of the famous bridges in ancient China time. It was constructed during the reign of Qiandao six years in Southern Song Dynasty (1170). It finished construction in 57th year of history, the length spanning 515 meters and the pier of the bridge pier was built with granite. It is one of the precious inheritances of China bridge construction. The center-section is a connected bateau-bridge with 18 shuttle ships where it can open and close discretionarily. When big ships or wooden raft pass through, the bateau-bridge in pontoon could be untie to let the ship or the wooden raft pass through and then return the pontoon to its original position. This is the earliest switch function type big stone bridge found in China and even in the world.
