Shennongjia Shengnong Altar,Shengnong Jitan

Located in the county of Muyu, Shennong Sacrificial Alter is situated at the south gate of Shennongjia. The Xiang Rivulet flows to the south through the Shennong Altar. The whole scenic area is surrounded with green mountains and the scenery is quite beautiful. The scenic area can be divided into five parts: the sacrificial district, ancient botanical garden, ancient 1,000 year Chinese fir, hall of butterfly samples, and the performance hall of chimes. The main part of the architectural complex is the Shennong large-scaled sculpture with the head of a cattle and body of human being which is 21m high and 35m wide.
The most special touristic activity is the bonfire night performance. Many interesting performances are shown such as the hunting performance and dancing. The local young women and men sing to each other as an act of wooing a possible future spouse, and pledge love with shoes. Of course you may also taste the delicious barbecue food. During the bonfire night performance, the local girls will toast you with Shennong rice millet wine and teach you their traditional folk songs.
