Shennongjia Liudao Gorge

Liudao Gorge is located on the north of Shennongjia in Hubei Province. It originates from Big Shenlongjia, passing through Shenlong Peak, Fengjingya, Jinhouling and Laojunshan and flows from west to the east. It is one of the main rivers in Shelongjia. The annual river water current capacity is 13.8 cubic meters per second. The length of the river channel that could be consumed is 18.65 kilometers. It combined altogether shoals of more than 50 of large and small, gorge, long beach, quarry stone and the lake. There are steep cliffs on both side of the banks, green vegetation and local conditions and customs with Shenlongjia features make visiting Longtan Gorge, Changtan Gorge, Toudao Gorge, Yinchen Gorge, Zhucao Gorge and Xiaolong Gorge and Liudao Gorge much more interesting. The sceneries of nine pillars peak, the seat Buddha cliff, the Echo Wall, hundred beast’s beaches, the savage gorge, and the crawling bridge are enchanting.
Toudao Gorge and Yinchen Gorge are the two more characteristic spots among Liudao Gorge. The total length of Toudao Gorge is about 2 kilometers, assuming the curving shape. The hills on both sides of the bank are vast and assume trapeziform cliff, extending from the bottom of the gorge to the summit. Looking up from the foot of the gorge, you can see faintly visible summit cultivation path and farmhouse. The water is either rapid or slow, either deep or shallow. The broadest gorge width does not exceed one foot and the narrowest not surpassing 2 meters. The slow flowing water place seems likes a mirror, the sunlight reflections of glittering rocks on both sides of the bank is enchanting. The spring beads dripping against the rock sounds like music, the rapid water splashes with the cicada’s sound and deer and apes’ cry in deep forest.
