Shennongjia Golden Monkey Mountain

Golden Monkey Mountain is located in Shennongjia nature protection area of Hubei Province. The elevation is 3,019 meters and the total area occupied is 5 square kilometers. The red rock grotto is located near its south, Xiaolong Gorge located near its north, and its east meets the lawn bay and to its west is close to the Changyan House. The distance from the gorge to Songxiang Ground and JiuJiu lines is 107 kilometers and 1 kilometer respectively. The plants growing within the gorge include Bawei pines, Huashan pines and there are monkeys in Golden Monkey Mountain. The mountain slope is flat with abundant rainfall and the land is fertile. The waterfall is swift and it is one of the better-preserved Shennongjia virgin forests. The golden monkey that is listed as the country’s first grade protected animal, lives here. It attracts many experts to come here for research and inspection, causing this mountain to become the rare golden monkey and white bear protected area. Tourists who were admiring the scenery may see the golden monkey at the same time.
