The Zhao Tomb is located 10 kilometers north of Shenyang, Liaoning and is therefore called "the north tomb". It is the emperor Huangtaiji and empress’s tomb.
The tomb area is surrounded by towering ancient pines, rippling lake water and golden tile red ocher wall. It was constructed in 1643 and possessed a grand and imposing manner and it lasted for a total of 8 years. The area occupied is 12.4 square kilometers. The tomb is equipped with red, white, and green terminus all around.
The tomb’s main constructions were in the north and south axis line while on its two sides was other appurtenances buildings. Thus, the king followed the “court located in front and chambers located behind" palace construction before his death.
According to the ancient traditional rules, the emperors must also live in exactly the same way as before they die. They need to attend court and still have their personal bedchamber.
There are mainly the stone lion, the stone column and the stone memorial arch. The red gate is the spirit way, the stone beasts. The Grand Favor Gate is a castle like city. The center of the Ming Dynasty building stood the treasure roof and coffin was buried under the mausoleum chamber.
