Beijing Botanical Garden is located near the Reclining Buddhist temple in Xishan. It was approved by the State Council and built in 1956. The plan area is 400 hectares. It primarily collects, demonstrates and preserves the North China, northeast and northwest local plant resources, to carry out scientific research, popular science and the touring.
The botanical garden was already completed with an opening area of 200 hectares composed of the plant display area, scenic spot and historic resort touring area and nature protection area.
More than 560,000 plants were introduced and cultivated in the garden with more than 5,000 varieties and 900,000 square meters of grass lands. The scenic spot and historic resorts are made up of the Reclining Buddhist temple, cherry blossom valley, Memorial Tower for December 9th Movement, Liangqichao tomb and Cao Xueqin memorial hall.
