The Red beach is located on the southwest of Panjin city and is 30 kilometers from the urban district. On the both sides of the tidelands at the entrance where water flows from Liaohe into the sea grows one kind of unyielding vigor zone plant – the alkali puncture Erigeron acris. The alkali puncture Erigeron acris initially grows on the ground in green color; slowly changes to the red, then formed dark red and covered the entire beach in the month of September every year. There are 236 types of birds perching on the red sea beach, among which includes the red-crowned crane, the black mouth gull and some other 30 kinds of rare and precious protected animals. The plants still sit straight when the tide covers the area and is bright and red like fire after the tide subsides, as though like the burning sunset glowing in the sea. Therefore it has the fine reputation of "the red rug", attracting many domestic and foreign tourists.
