This scenic spot, once called Bishan, is located west of Luquan County, Hebei, 16 kilometers from Shijiazhuang city. A historical record, The Biography of Huaiyinhou, reports that HanXin attacked Zhao with 2,000 horse-mounted soldiers. A person holding one red flag watched Zhao’s army from Bishan Shan. The place’s name, Baodushan, means majesty and ruggedness and ancient peoples have liked to conquer it repeatedly. Consequently people are guided here easily and there are many fields to plant. Historically, innumerable writers and other literati have ascended it. Baoduzhai has also become an important place for religious activities.
