Jiaohe Ruins is located in the Yarnaizi Valley and is 13 kilometers west from Turpan in Xinjiang. The Jiaohe Ruins dated back to the Tang Dynasty and still exist now.
There are two city gates where the south is the main gate but it has been destroyed. The east gate is better preserved. The gate way and the gate frontal hole are still obvious. The inner gate is the living quarters of defense soldiers.
The ruins construction is about 220,000 square meters. It can be mainly divided into the temple, the common people residence and the government office and so on. In front of the Buddhist temple entrance still stood the pagoda and upon ascending the peak you can view the entire city’s view and style.
The Jiaohe Ruins was constructed under the construction style of typical Tang Dynasty construction characteristic, which is digging the courtyard, pulling out the hole to become the room, the earth as the wall, the house are two storey, facing the street but cannot see the windows and doors, passing though the lane to see the front door.
Tourists who come here now can still drop in from houses to houses, reach the hall and enter the room and it is very interesting. They may also appreciate the different constructions style and savor the history.
