Situated on the Plain, Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province, which is said to be one of the originating places of the Chinese people and lies on the center part of China, is the biggest hub city in Central China.
Divided by the Yangtze River, Wuhan has come to be known as the Three Towns of Wuhan with Hankou and Hanyang on the west bank, and Wuchang on the east. Wuhan is a city with both an ancient history and a thriving present. Historic relics excavated from ancient tombs tell the city's long history dating back 3,500 years. In the period of Pre-Qin (770 B.C. - 221 B.C.), this was the land of the State of Chu (one of the seven warring states before Qin, in China's first feudal dynasty) and was the cradle of the brilliant Chu Civilization.
The well-known Yellow Crane Tower , a Wuhan landmark, is a must for travelers. Inscriptions by famous poets and literati from ancient dynasties adorn the tower. A climb to the top nets a bird's view of the entire city. The commercial industry in Wuhan has long been well-known throughout the country. Like other medium cities in China, the Wuhan commercial industry is flourishing with shopping malls and centers, super markets, chain stores and shopping streets throughout the city.
Wuhan presents charming scenery for nature lovers. The scenic East Lake area is top on all travel plans for its fascinating lake scenery, charming plum gardens and bamboo forest.
