Nanchan Temple was a temple built in Tang Dynasty. It is a temple with the longest history of ancient building that exists till now in the country. Nanchan Temple is located near Lijiazhuang of Yangbai village, which is 22 kilometers southwest of Wutai County. It is 7 miles from Dongzhi town.
There is no way to trace the actual construction date of Nanchan Temple. According to the related historical record, the temple was reconstructed at the reign of Tang Dezong 3 years (the A.D. 782 years) in Tang Dyansty. It was built earlier by 75 years from east main hall of Buddha light temple in Wutai Mountain. It has more than 1,200 years of history to date.
