Puhua Temple is located under the east foothill on the south side of Huai Town. It leans against the green hill and faces Qingshui River. The environment is quiet and beautiful. It is the earliest temple constructed in Wutai Mountain. The temple was the former Dafu Lingjiu Temple of Xiantong.
Puhua Temple is another temple built much later. Puhua Temple was initially named Dishi Palace. During the reign of Emperor Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (1628-1644), a Chinese style Jade Emperor pavilion was built here. The temple worshipped the Jade Emperor; therefore it was named the Temple of the Jade Emperor. The existing construction was the rebuilt from the ruins of the Temple of the Jade Emperor in 1925 (1925).
