Xining Hoh Xil,kekexili

Hoh Xil(kekexili) is fit only for exploration. It is Qinghai-Tibet altiplano rare and precious wild animal gene storing place. It is located on the west of Qinghai and north borders on Xinjiang and Tibet. In Mongolian, the meaning is "the green mountain ridge".

It stretches from northwest to southeast with the length of 300 kilometers and the width of 200 kilometers. The area occupied is 45,000 square kilometers with the core area fluctuate slightly in the area approximately 25,500 square kilometers for the center, the high elevation, the mesa and the plain.

The annual average temperature is between the ranges of 4.4 ℃ to 10 ℃ and is labeled as "the world third extreme". The environment and climate is bad so the place is not fit for permanent human occupying purpose. Thus, it retained its primitive ecological environment and the unique natural landscape.

The modern glacier is broad with a total area of 2,000 square kilometers. There are frozen mound on the surface, frozen tent, stone forest, stone circle, multi- colors high land moor as well as modern steaming glacier, and with water temperature reaches as high as 91 ℃, hot springs and so on forms the unique traveling resources of this area.
