Xining Lofty Or Bottomless Sail Bright,wanzhang Yanqiao

Lofty Or Bottomless Sail Bright(wanzhang Yanqiao) is located above the Chaerhan saline lake on the south of Xinjiang Caidamu. In fact, Lofty or bottomless salt bridge is a broad main road constructed above the saline lake, 60 kilometers to the south of Germu.

The road resembles a bridge floating above the water, with a length of 32 kilometers across the entire Chaerhan saline lake. It has neither bridge pier nor the parapet but the entire road surface is smooth and broad, with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour.

The maintenance of the salt bridge is rather unusual. Once the road surface appears concave, the road mender uses salt water to cover the uneven surface. The salt melts very quickly and conceals the uneven surface on the road, thus completing the job.
