White Tower and Nine- dragon Screen are both located within Beihai Park. The White Dagoba is the symbolic and signature construction of Beihai Park. It was built under the reign of Emperor Shunzhi eight years of early Qing Dynasty (Year 1651).
The White Tower is a Lama pagoda of Tibetan style. The Dagoba itself is 35.9 meters high. The tower body is in treasured vase shape. There are Lama religious scriptures, earthen bowl and two Buddhist relics in the tower. There is a small and exquisite Shanyin Palace in front of the tower.
On the west side is Son of Heaven Palace. There is a nine dragon screen decorated with 424 pieces of seven colors glazed bricks. It was built under the reign of Emperor Qianlong twenty one year in Qing Dynasty (Year 1756). The length is 25.86 meters, the height is 6.65 meters and the depth is 1.42 meters.
It is the best large sized nine dragon screen among three famous one in the country. The Iron Shadow Screen is situated on the south of the Nine- dragon Screen. The length is 3.56 meters and the height is 1.89 meters.
It appears to bear the color of iron with cloud-patterns and chimeras carved on both sides under the eaves. It is a piece of cultural relic left from the Yuan Dynasty.
