The Ox Canyon is a half canyon. The shore of this mountain range is far from the river but is still under the wide valley land sector. It stretches continuously to the bright moonlight defile of South Tuo. Canyon of the temple river enters the wide valley land sector but the Yangtze River route doesn’t stretches broadly. On the contrary, the width of the canyon narrowed down and is dangerous and regarded by the boatman as “Guimenguan”.
Piles and piles of giant megaliths resemble the demons and monsters and piling on the route, where it was named “demon occupying river” by the people. The dangerous huge megalith look as if it is going to break the middle part of Yangtze River, therefore this section of the river is also named by people as “river waist cut into two” or “waist Branch River”.
