Zhengzhou Xiaolangdi Scenic Area,Xiaolangdi Fengjingqu

Xiaolangdi Scenic Area is located in Henan province, by the riverside of Yellow River. In addition to 1800 MW of new generation capacity, the Xiaolangdi project regulates water flows to the Yellow River, providing irrigation, preventing water from frozen-up, reduction of sediment, improved quality of water supply, and above all flood control. Upon completion, flood protection on the lower reaches will be raised from the current 60 years to the 1000 years level. The earth- and rock-filled dam is 154 meters high with a crest length of 1667-meters. The surface of the reservoir area is 272 km2 when full. The last of the six generating units began production in December 2001.
