The Dongyue Temple is located in the Chaoyangmenwai Street of Chaoyang District and was built in the Yuan Dynasty for the Dongyue emperor and the numerous gods praying. The Dongyue emperor is the Taishan god where people believed him to be the supervisor of all Mountain Gods in ancient time. The entire temple is composed by three parts, which are the center, east and west Zhengyuan Road. The area is 47,000 square meters and with 376 main palace rooms. It is the biggest Taoist temple in the North China area. The entire temple looks imposing with excellent construction.
In the temple is the old Beijing’s saying: The "clever and resourceful person, translucent tablet, small gold bean, won’t suffer any loss". There is also a small scenic spot: West of the Dai Zong valuable palace on the side corridor where it has ashlars. The original flash gold lights where the people called as "the small gold bean", translucent tablet: There is a seven years old chisel steel block where there are hollow dragon head tablet modeling six spatial. Two people standing around the tablet can mutually see and is called by the people as "the translucent tablet" or "passes the dragon tablet". Clever and resourceful person: There is the “Reconstruction Dongyue temple gold light stele "in Dongbei forest of Dongyue temple built in 1650 during the reign of Shunzhi. There are two Taoist children with lantern standing at both side of the stele. The engraving is exquisite so whichever direction you look at it, it seems to be smiling and is called by the people as "the clever and resourceful person". As for "won’t suffer any loss" this stele also is the character modeling without knowing its source, which bring infinite aftertaste to the tourist.
