Chengde Pingquan Liaoheyuan Scenic Area,Pingquan Liaoheyuan Fengjingqu

Pingquan Liaoheyuan Scenic Area is called “the Liaohe River Source” because the mountain spring is multitudinous, the water source is abundant and it is the origin of Xiliao River. The forest region covers an area of 218,000 acres, in which primitive secondary forest occupies 116,000 acres.
There are 1,700 types of plants and over 70 types of plants for viewing. There are also hundred types off animals. The prominent peak is Ma Yushan. It is the main theme of the scenic area with an elevation of 1,738 meters. It is a prairie landscape. It was said this place was the meadow of great distant prince for horse herd so it is also called “the prince horse field”.
