Tanzhe Temple nestled on the south of Cudrania Hill in the Mentougou district, west of Beijing. The distance is 41 kilometers away from the Fucheng Gate. The Pool and Cudrania Temple is large in scale. The area occupied by the inner temple is 2.5 hectares and the outer temple is 11.2 hectares.
In addition of the periphery forest and the mountain farm, the total area amounted to above 121 hectares. Presently, there are altogether 943 rooms in the Pool and Cudrania Temple. Among which, 638 rooms were formerly the ancient palace. The construction maintained the Ming and Qing Dynasties style.
The Temple has 1700 years of history and it was initially built in the Jin Dynasty. It is the largest Buddhist temple built in the western suburbs of Beijing.
The temple not only comprised of multitudinous historical sites but also provides modernized traveling and servicing facilities, transportation, lodgings, dining, touring, entertainment and shopping to attract tourists. It is a famous tourist attraction in Beijing suburbs.
