The elevation of Mushitage Peak is 7,509 meters. It is situated on the county junction of Aketao County of Xinjiang with Tashikurgan. It belongs to the West Kunlun Mountains and together with the Gongger Peak and Gongger Jiubie Peak; they were called the three peaks of Pamirs. The west side of the peak slope is smooth whereas the north and east sides are precipitous.
The mountain is round and resembles the steamed bun. It snows from year to year with the snow line elevation of 5,200 meters. The iceberg landform forms more than ten glaciers, among which the biggest Xili and Kemashile glacier cut the mountain into two. The end glacier has an elevation of 4,300 meters.
This peak mainly has four mountain ridges: south mountain ridge, west mountain ridge, northwest mountain ridge and northeast mountain ridge. The west slopes is smooth but with multi-cracks while the north and east slopes are precipitous. The peak looks like the white gray hair of an old person from the Kalakuli Lake, hence the native called it "Mushitagea Ata" where "Mushitage" means "the iceberg". "The Ata” means the father".
The west slope is a good place for skiing. It has attracted massive Europe’s mountain skiers every year. The Mushitage is the highest ski mountain in the world. It is the sacred land for Europe’s mountaineering skiing.
