The Moer Buddha Pagoda is located approximately 30 kilometers northeast from Kashgar, Xinjiang. It is an abandoned Hannuoyi ancient city. The ancient city is about 3 kilometers long and the width is about 1 kilometer. The dirt wall of the city still remained.
According to textual research, this ancient city is the summer palace of Kelahan Dynasty Khan (King). It has more than 1,500 years of history.
About several kilometers towards north from the ancient city are a pavilion and a high tower. This is "the Moer Buddha Pagoda" ruin. The Moer Buddha Pagoda has three levels of square seats, the lowest length of the side is more than 12 meters, the second storey’s side length is 10 meters and the side length of the third storey is approximately 8 meters. Above is an elliptoid roof, the entire tower is more than 12 meters height.
The high platform near the big tower is the Buddhist temple’s central construction for worshipping Buddha. The image of the Buddha is in the side wall niche. There is no Buddha image left but the trace of the Buddha statue can be seen.
