The construction of Sajia Monastery was very unique and unusual. It was built in square shape, resembling a magic cube. The area occupied is 20,000 cubic meters and there are fence surrounding the building on all sides. The wall is very high, the height reaching almost 3 feet and there were watchtowers built on four corners. There is an artificial moat outside the wall. The outer wall was painted in red, black and white color. These colors are the special symbols of Sajia Fation temple.
There are massive murals and statues from the Yuan Dynasty preserved in the temple. It has the reputation of the second “Dunhuang” in China. Sajia Monastery is a well-known Tibet scripture and book collection center.
