Liugong Island is located on the port of Weihai Gulf. The distance is 2.1 miles from the urban tourism dock. It is within reach by tourist boats within 20 minutes time.
The island is steep from the north to the south. The length of the island from east to west is 4.08 kilometers. The widest width from north to south is 1.5 kilometers and the narrowest is 0.06 kilometers.
The length of the coastline is 1,495 kilometers, with a total area of 3.15 square kilometers. The highest altitude of the peak is 153.5 meters. The vegetation of the island is luxuriant, mainly with black pine with the black pine amounting to more than 2,700 pines.
In 1985, the island was listed as the national forest park. The island was named as the "national civilized scenic areas” by the Ministry of Construction. In 1888, Telegraphic Agency, Navy College, Navy of Northern Department and Rail Terminal were set up when the Navy was formed.
It became the origin of the first modern “North Sea” of Chinese Navy. In 1894, the 1894 – 1895 China and Japan war took place in the eastern water of the island. Today, it has become a famous tourism spot and patriotic education bases.
