Yantai Zhifoyangzhu Temple,Zhifoyangzhu Miao

Zhifoyangzhu Temple (Zhifoyangzhu Miao) is located in Yantai of Shandong province and was built approximately during the spring and Autumn Period. It was the temple where Qi Guo offered sacrifices to the "eight gods". The Eight gods were the legendary eight monarchical senior government generals.

The so-called "positive host" for uneven country sacrificial offering was one of the "eight gods" and is ranked number five. He was the God especially in charge of managing the folk’s water, drought and acute communicable disease. According to historical records, Qin Shihhuang ascended Zhifu Island three times while patrolling to the east in 219 B.C., 218 year and 210 year towards the sun to host salute to the ancient rite of sacrifices and carved stones to praise the merit.

There are four courtyard entrances to the host temple, 136 palaces rooms and arranged in the shape of "labor" glyph arrangement. The building is grand and magnificent and is a typical east ancient architectural composition model. The positive host temple is one of the most ancient temples recorded in history in our country.

Zhifo Island scenery is elegantly beautiful with towering cliff on the north where the highest reaches as high as hundred meters. The cliff sea eclipse column cave, grotesquely-shaped jagged rocks that differ in thousands of ways and the nearby bank named as the "mother-in-law stone" were distributed here with an elevation of 43.40 meters, resembling the form of an old granny sitting cross-legged in the middle of the clear water and admiring the luxurious marine sight.

The south bank tide is comparatively slower with heavy forest, its west section surrounds the fresh water sheath bay and on the east section is the ancient Zhifu bay. Overlooking the south is the view of the busy Yantai port and tall buildings of the downtown area. Zhifu Island attracted innumerable tourists with its glorious historical positive host temple and the island beautiful scenery to visit these quiet and serene scenic places.
