Yantai Western Artillery Park,Xipaotai Gongyuan

West Artillery Park was constructed in 1876. The artillery installed at that time was the earth artillery. Fence and watchtower were constructed to strengthen coastal defense. The artillery was reconstructed during Guangxu 13th year (in 1887). There were altogether eight artilleries. Presently, four remained and were preserved. The biggest artillery’s perimeter is 31 meters, the fence height is 2 meters, the city wall width is nearly 1 meter, and the total length is 800 meters with more than 200 shoots. In 1949, an artillery park was built here where you would be reminded of the frigid fierce combat in the same year Qing Dynasty officers and soldiers and the western intruder’s warship occurred.
