Penglai Pavilion is located on the Danya Hill, north of Peilai City, Shandong Province. It was built during Song Dynasty (618-907AD), and covers an area of 32,800sqm. The Penglai Pavilion, Tengwang Pavilion, Huanghe Pavilion, and Yueyang Pavilion are the four most famous pavilions in all of China.
The Penglai Pavilion is also the birthplace of the famous Chinese legends "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" (eight persons from Taoist mythology, usually identified as Han Zhongli, Zhang Guolao, Lv Dongbin, Li Tieguai, Han Xiangzi, Cao Guojiu, Lan Caihe and He Xiangu). Penglai is a two-story wood pavilion and is 15m high. 16 large red pillars stand around the pavilion. To the south lie many other pavilions and palaces such as the Sanqing Hall, Lvzu Hall, Tianhou Hall, and Longwang Hall.
