Yantai Wangyirong Memorial,Wangyirong Jinianguan

Wangyirong Memorial (Wangyirong Jinianguan) is located on the west of lucky mountainous area of Yantai City, Shandong Province. The water is clear with green hills, glorious history and it is rich with special products, thus earn the reputation of "silver Fushan".

Patriotic scholar, Wang Yirong was born here. Wang Yirong is of Yantai Fushan dialect and the family was of official and aristocratic background. He later succeeded in the highest imperial examination and offered sacrifice to the Imperial Academy for three times before and governed the national education.

In 1899, his earliest discovery was the inscription on animal bones and tortoise shells which was ancient time writing. In 1900, the Eight Power Expeditionary Force invaded Beijing. The soldiers were defeated and the city was taken. Wang Yirong sent out "righteousness could not be marred" pledge and caused the entire family to die heroically for the country.

Wang Yirong Memorial is plain and elegant and is the place where one can enjoy the peace in noisy Fushan City. This memorial hall was divided into 7 exhibition halls. Wang Yirong’s relic, including the hand note, correspondence, work, calligraphy, inscription on animal bones and tortoise shells piece and some other 300 items are vividly displayed.

The hall includes exhibition of more than 200 breadths of the national leaders, both domestic and foreign renowned historians, and the inscription on animal bones and tortoise shells scholar and painter-calligrapher’s excellent work, all of which are valuable.
