Yantai Changdao Navigation Museum,Changdao Hanghai Bowuguan

Changdao Navigation Museum (Changdao Hanghai Bowuguan) is located in Long Island County of Yantai City, Shandong Province. It is currently the first comprehensive navigation related museum in China. The hall is located in the Miao Island instead of the palace.

There are six exhibition rooms altogether in the museum where Chinese navigation history, the Chinese navigation technology history, the navigation origin, the Zheng He memorial hall, Tian Fei history were set up in each exhibition room plus a pre- exhibition hall.

The exhibition area occupied approximately 500 square meters. Collections related to navigation aspect, cultural relics, ancient book, models, more than 1,000 pictures, including whale boat shape earthenware, island stone inscription time earthenware and all previous dynasties sea boat model and so on precious cultural relic were displayed.

Other than the sea boat model, the cultural relics of Paleolithic period mentioned earlier were unearthed through excavation and aids in the research, enabling us to know the living condition of the primitives living in this place.

It enriches knowledge on previous dynasties sea boat by understanding each dynasty’s shipbuilding level and navigation technical level from the Tang Dynasty.
