The region to the south of the Xinjiang Qaidam is developed under the original Nuomuhong culture, hence the name. The area is more than 50,000 square meters. The ruins are composed by three small sand dunes, likes Chinese characters “ping” glyph. There is a natural square between three sand dunes.
The site is mainly occupied by houses, brick walls, animal farm, graves and massive archaeological cultural relics. The brick fence is made by soil in rectangular shape. There are two types of fence; one takes the shape of ellipse or oval while the other is in rectangular or irregular rectangle.
All the houses are in square shape and constructed by wood. Thousands of earthenware, stone implement, bone implement, copperware, and cultural relics and so on were excavated here, reflecting people‘s leisure entertainment activities at that time. The above cultural relics are displayed at the Qinghai Province museum.
