The rocks seems to resemble the medieval Europe castle because of the unique style and because it is windy during the four seasons, the wind blowing through the castle emitting strange and incisive sounds, thus called the Devil Town.
It is 100 kilometers from Kelamayi city of Xinjiang. The native Mongolian called this city "Su Lu Mu Ha Ke" and the Kazakh called it “Shayitankerxi", meaning the devil town.
The Devil Town assumes the trend from northwest to east and west, the length and breadth are about 5 kilometers respectively, the surrounding area is about 10 square kilometers and the elevation is about 350 meters. Overlooking the wind town, it is like a big medieval Europe castle.
The Devil Town is situated at the gusty area, very windy throughout the four seasons. Whenever the wind blows, it is gloomy and is like air current shuttling back and forth like the arrow in the strange rocky mountain, emitting sharp and severe sound. It is extremely ghostly if this happens on a dreary moonlit night when the environment is silent and quiet.
