Huo Qubing Tomb is the accompanying dead tomb buried along with Mao Tomb of Emperor Wu of Han dynasty. The natural stone grave in Chilienshan’s shape was built in commemoration of Huo Qubing’s illustrious military exploits, symbolizing the fierce battlefields engaged by Huo Qubing before his death. The etiquette is grand upon entering the tomb along with enormous and powerful armed forces from the capital city of Chang An to Mao Tomb.

In front of Huo Qubing tomb, there are altogether 16 carved stones, including the stone image, stone horse, strange beast and sheep, lying cow, human and bear and so on where the theme is diversified, the carving technique is extremely succinct and the model is vigorous forceful with unadorned roughness. It was the earliest and best-preserved large-scale sculpture which was discovered to date in China.

It is also the representative of outstanding stone carving art of Han Dynasty. Among which “the horse treading Hun” is the theme carved stones in front of the grave. The length is 1.9 meters and the height is 1.68 meters. It was chiseled with grayish white granulated sand stone carving, the stone horse standing with the head held high, the long tow tail and the carvings of the Hun human with hand-held arrow is the most representative monument work and holding important status in the Chinese history of art.
