Jujube Garden was originally a manor of North Shaanxi armed forces. The central society department moved to Yan’an and the Central Party Committee lived in the garden. The name was then changed to “Jujube Garden”.
There are several row of dwelling caves and some fruit trees in the garden but not many houses. From October 1943 to March 1947, this place was the base of the Secretariat of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Leaders Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Ren bishi, Liu Shaoqi, Zhang Wentian, Peng Dehuai have lived here successively.

In the past, the Central Committee of the CCP frequently held various types of conferences; banquet and dance party in here and guests receptions activities. During the massive production campaign period, the well known national spun yarn competition was once held here. During the Spring Festival every year, Mao Zedong also invites the public for dinner here.
